I've said it before and I'll say it again... I LOVE birth photography!!  I can't tell you how privileged I feel being invited into such a special event! To capture these once in a lifetime...and really the beginning of a life it is so special.
Now I'll admit that I am no sales person...but there have been a few moms-to-be that I have pushed (pun intended) to do Birth photos. All of them say "There is no way I want my photo taken in that situation" and I get that! Let's face it, we don't really want our photos taken on a good day! But what if we changed the way we think?  Embrace the amazing, absolute miracle of bringing a child, a life, into this world!  I think I am so into birth photography...because for every birth I am present for, I am continually BLOWN AWAY by the strength and ability we posses.  And by the absolute gift we are given in pregnancy. It's so commonplace and happens over 10,000 time a day...but if you really stop and think about the magnitude of what is actually taking place ...well it blows my mind! Let's not shy away from this because it's not some our pretties moments... Let's embrace it because, you are, and it is, AMAZING!  And the women I talked into doing it have all been thrilled with the results, because what I don't think we realize, is just how much we miss or forget in those crazy, action packed, emotion filled moments.
And for my last selling point ;)  When we go to a family reunion or get together with the people who are special in our lives, chances are someone brings a camera, and snaps a few photos.  Why? Because these people are special to us. Because we want to remember these moments.  This is one of the most important meetings of your life. Is it a little (okay a lot) painful? So is Aunt Gertrude's cheek pinching.   Yes. Is it a little scary? It can be. But so is Uncle Ralph's mustache, and 80's exercise shorts.  Is it the most glamorous day of your life? Nope. Are these horrible selling points? The worst! (I got a little deep up ^there^, gotta bring it back to lighthearted) The point I'm trying to make is.... This is one of the most important meetings of your life! This is one of the most important people in your life!  This is one of the most important days of your life! Have some photos taken! Because this is special, because this is something you are going to want to remember. Pain and all. Because the instant you hear that first cry...and hold that tiny baby...every moment was special, every second of that journey was important.
Anyway....that's enough of that...Here are some of the Births I had the complete honor of photographing this past year...and now I'll let the photos do the talking!

Welcome Evelyn
